My home is filled with photos, of family, of friends, of events in my life that were  important to me. I rely on my photos to remind me of where I was, where I came  from, and what I have done in this world. I use them to tell the story of my family to  my children and friends.    My first thought after hearing about what Hurricane Sandy did to the Gerritsen Beach  neighborhood was about people memories, their photos, that were likely destroyed.  Computers, backups, negatives, photos.... all gone. As a native of Gerritsen Beach and a photographer, this affected me deeply, and out  of empathy for those who lost their photos along with everything else came an idea  to help in the rebuilding of the things that insurance does not cover...to start  gathering new moments in time upon which to base our stories and our memories. In this spirit, myself and Steve from Yours Truly Photography, with the support of  friends and family, are offering free professional family photo shoots, along with free  CDs and prints, to those families in Gerritsen Beach devastated by the flood waters.                                                   ~Leslie Krom   What does a photograph mean to you? Leslie and Steve will travel to Brooklyn to hold a  weekend full of photo sessions for Gerritsen  Beach families whose precious memories were  destroyed by the flood. Each family will receive:  • 20-minute sitting with professional photographers • A CD with the images  • One 5x7 print As Gerritsen Beach rebuilds, we hope that this small gesture will help families begin to rebuild their memories.
